We have all been there before, getting tired of the day to day grind and wanting to give up, feeling overwhelmed or just needing motivation. What do you do to get out of a rut when you find yourself in one? Take a few days off or a much-needed vacation, spend some time with friends and family, go for a few drinks or do you just reflect?
For me, when I'm in this position I tend to find myself reflecting on the tasks at hand, my past as well as watching online videos.
With reflection, I review my previous employment and compare it to what I do and love now. I enjoy my freedom and the opportunities I have of being my own boss. Yes being self-employed can be endless hours, fear of no guaranteed pay cheque and the work sometimes seems to never end but it is what I have chosen to do.
I truly believe for the most part you are exactly where you should be in life. What I mean is, the decisions you have made up until this day has put you in the position you are in now. If you are not happy CHANGE IT! In the end, I feel that everyone was dealt the same basic hand.
So for each person who is in a bit of the "groundhog" day routine find something that makes you happy and reflect on everything you have. That may mean taking a few days off to refresh, eating healthier, going to the gym or anything else that may take your mind off things for awhile. What about taking a moment out of your day away from Facebook updates and check out some motivational videos. For whatever reason, this works for me. I love watching motivational videos especially those of people who were down and then rose to the top. Videos make me rethink my goals and refocus myself and energy.
I have shared a few of my favorites below:
